The COVID-19 pandemic shed light on a few harsh realities, one of which being that mental health and general wellbeing are fragile, and must be cared for by society at large. Endeavouring to foster an environment of support and care, Bally’s Interactive is leading the way by providing a toolkit of resources to employees around their offices.

The newest initiative – a part of the company’s Mental Health Awareness Month which took place in July – aims to create personal connections and grow positive relationships outside of the scope of meetings and project deadlines. Dubbed “Coffee Roulette”, this activity pairs participating employees with colleagues they may never have met or interacted with, all with the simple aim of reaching out, having a quick chat, and embracing simple human connection.

Of course, wellbeing requires continuous support, which is why Bally’s Interactive also launched the THRIVE wellbeing platform. Designed to help Bally’s Interactive employees keep active, eat healthier and live fulfilling lives, THRIVE allows its users to track goals, join challenges, and access useful lifestyle tips. Company-run challenges have focused on mental, physical and emotional wellbeing, as well as altruistic efforts such as the Be Kind challenge, which encouraged employees to show their care and be thoughtful to those around them.

Whilst reports of increased loneliness have flooded headlines since the start of the pandemic, many still express a strong sense of reluctance to return to the status quo of pre-2020 office life.

“More and more, the solution we keep coming back to is to strike a balance that works for our employees and allows them to get the best of both worlds. This leads us to explore new ways of working, embrace flexibility and create meaningful connections which promote inclusion and champion innovation” said Michela Borg, SVP of human resources.

To support employees even when they’re not physically in the office, Bally’s Interactive also introduced the ERGO scheme, designed to kit out a productive home working space. Everything from monitors and lamps to desk chairs and ergonomic supports can be selected from a catalogue of items or reimbursed to make working from home as comfortable as possible.

Although the team at Bally’s Interactive are hopeful that comfort, connection, and flexibility will help employees ease into the shifting pace of post-pandemic working life, these aren’t the only pieces to the puzzle. Available globally to all Bally’s Interactive employees, our international Employee Assistance Programme offers confidential 24-hour chat, video or in person support from qualified therapists in more than 70 languages. This service is available for employees and their families alike, when seeking support on topics ranging from mental and physical health, financial wellbeing, relationships, parenting and so on

There are always further strides that can be made, and new challenges that are sure to be uncovered in the new landscape of work-life balance, but for the team at Bally’s Interactive, these tools and benefits are a welcome start.
