Belgium

Three of the four gambling sites most recently added to the Belgian Gaming Commission’s blacklist of unlicensed online gambling websites – Locowin.com, Kajot-casino.com and Westcasino.com – are Malta-licensed companies.

The operators, deemed under Belgian regulations to be operating illegally in the country without the relevant licenses, could be subject to fines of between €100 and €100,000, should they continue to run gambling sites in the country.

Players using unlicensed websites could also face criminal charges and fines, ranging from between €26 to €25,000.

The blacklist was first published in 2012, and features such prominent international operators as William Hill, Bet365, Betfair and Betvictor.

Of the three Maltese operators to join the list, all retain their Type 1 license from the Malta Gaming Authority (MGA).

The fourth casino to be blacklisted, PH Casino, operates under a Curacao license, and is described as one of the “most X-rated online betting sites in existence today”.

The list comes as part of Belgium gambling regulations, which state that games of chance are legal, but only when the operator holds a valid license in the country.

Available on the Commission’s website, the blacklist contains the names of every casino that may be targeting Belgium players but doesn’t hold a license.

New operators are added monthly, with four joining the list in April, and 15 the month before, with the vast majority of these being Curacao-licensed operators.
