Malta-based mobile gaming developer and online casino provider LeoVegas has been expanding throughout the South American territory and has recently announced a new partnership with award-winning Brazilian footballer Léo Moura.
Head of Affiliates and Country Manager for LeoVegas Group Sven Kaltenegger spoke with iGamingBrazil about the challenges faced by the company over the past year.
Asked about the pandemic and how it affected the Malta Gaming Authority (MGA)-licensed group, Mr Kaltneggar said that 2020 was a “challenging year” and is optimistic that things are slowly “returning to normal, both in terms of financial KPIs and all other related factors like trade shows and partner engagement.
Speaking about national matters and how LeoVegas are approaching the Brazilian market, Mr Kaltneggar commented that “regulation for Brazil has been discussed for a long time and we at LeoVegas would of course welcome Brazil being regulated in a fair way.”
“We believe that we will only achieve a fair and compatible approach, with regard to protection of the player once the regulated mechanisms are ‘in place’, which naturally leads to more protection and a uniform playing field when it comes to acquiring players”, he added.
LeoVegas are still expanding throughout the continent and are “closely monitoring the LATAM markets and of course will commit to a potential license where feasible. LATAM markets still offer a great opportunity both in terms of financial growth and players.”
