GamingMalta’s COVID-19 Vaccination Initiative for the local iGaming industry has administered its first vaccine shots, it has announced.

Unveiled in May, the initiative aims to help iGaming companies encourage their employees to get vaccinated against the virus. It was launched in line with other initiatives by local health authorities to help Malta reach herd immunity.

At the time, in comments to MaltaCEOs.mt, Ivan Filletti, COO at GamingMalta said that the initiative would offer iGaming companies the opportunity to book group vaccinations for their staff or, depending on demand, have a vaccination unit set up at the office.

“This will give companies the chance to extend the vaccine roll-out to all employees who haven’t already been inoculated”, he said.

The scheme is a component of the drive to help Malta reach herd immunity. As things stand, Malta has reached the 70 per cent first-dose vaccine coverage cited by Malta’s Government as being required to reach the ever-elusive position.

It seems that the achievement is reaping rewards. Malta’s COVID cases have hit impressive lows this week, with the country recording zero new cases on Monday, and only one on Tuesday.
