Betsson foodbank donation

Betsson has made a €10,000 donation to the Foodbank Lifeline Foundation, a local charity that feeds “scores of families and individuals ever week” and which has seen a spike of families in need during the COVID pandemic.

Announcing the move, the international iGaming operator explained “The Foodbank Lifeline Foundation believes that no child or adult should ever experience hunger, so they do their utmost to ensure that these people have enough food to cover them in the short-term until a more long-term solution is found.”

The foundation operates on a referral model, making sure it only helps those in desperate need, by only supporting those who have been referred to them by agencies such as Apogg, Child Protection, Mental Health and Oncology teams, Caritas, Sedqa, Jesuit Refugee Service or Parish Priests and Imams.

“They try to never turn anyone away,” Betsson said.

Aside from the recent donation, the operator has been at the forefront of a general corporate social responsibility drive in the iGaming industry, with a number of ongoing initiatives dedicated to social engagement and responsibility.

As part of this, the company has provided gifts to nurses, made a donation to an anti-bullying NGO, to the Women for Women Foundation, and more.

For these efforts, it has been recognised by several industry establishments, winning ‘Socially Responsible Operator of the Year’ and ‘Company of the Year’ at a diversity focused-awards, to name just a few in recent years.

“We have always been at the forefront of RG and CSR and with this new website we are offering complete transparency in terms of social impact initiatives that we’re part of and hope that by doing so, others will follow suite,” said Jesper Svensson, CEO for Betsson Operations.
