Matthew Sciberras, Betsson Group’s director of information security, has announced he will be leaving the company, taking up a role at Esports Entertainment Group as VP of Information Security.
Announcing the move on social media, he reflected on his “exciting journey” at Betsson, where he worked alongside “very bright individuals,” and described the company as a culture driven organisation with customers at heart.
Mr Sciberras joined Betsson in March 2016, as head of internal IT projects and services. Before that, he worked as Senior IT Consultant and Technical Trainer at Domain Group Malta, Head of IT Infrastructure/ISMS Manager at Skillcast and in multiple positions at Atlas Technology Group.
He also founded MaltaICT in February 2003, which he operated for more than 14 years, offering companies value added services in pen testing, security posture improvement, and risk analysis.
In an interview with Betsson Group earlier this year, he explained how he got into the industry, saying “I was always computer savvy since when I was a kid. I built my own computer when I was 11 years old and that had fascinated me”.
Looking to the future, Mr Sciberras exclaimed: “Lots of amazing things are being brewed at Esports Entertainment and the people I have met so far are fantastic. I am sure that the next few years are going to be exciting.”
Esports Entertainment is a NASDAQ-listed esports and online gambling company aiming to capitalise on changes in the iGaming and gaming industry, and the ascendance of esports with new generations.
Using a proprietary Player-to-Player wagering system, the company allows esports fans and enthusiasts to bet against one another.
“Onwards and upwards,” celebrated Mr Sciberras.
